With extensive experience in both vintage clothing and management, and with a background in the cultural sector, we (Muriël and Menno) founded Vindit in 2024, a secondhand clothing and accessories store. Since 2006, we've been located in the Jordaan district, Amsterdam's most charming and celebrated neighborhood. We're situated on one of the city's most photographed streets, with a stunning view of the Wester tower and surronded with charming, authentic shops, galleries, lunchrooms and restaurants.
Vindit focuses on vintage clothing with a distinct style, often typical for a specific period (the twenties, fifties, sixties, seventies, and eighties, for example). We prefer to focus on styles more than that something is of a well-known brand.
You'll find outfits for stage performances or theme parties, as well as suitable clothing for a summer picnic or a cold wintersday. We're happy to help you find that specific item you're looking for, to really complete an outfit. Sometimes you need accessories to complete an outfit. We believe a hat or cap is a perfect item to do so, which is why we always have plenty of them in our shop. Besides being simply beautiful, a hat can really give an outfit a certain period-specific touch or add a certain character (think of a paperboy's cap, a fedora, or a stylish wedding hat).
Unfortunately, we don't have enough space in our shop to display every possible hat we've got, and affordable hat shops are scarce these days anyway, although there is a always high demand for beautiful vintage hats. That's why we've created the webshop VintageHatter.com. You'll find literally thousands of hats and caps, and we ship worldwide. If you'd like to try on a specific hat or cap from our webshop in our fysicat shop, that's possible, as long as we know this in advance.
You'll usually find Muriël in the store, and Menno in the warehouse processing webshop orders and publishing new and vintage hats and caps.
